By: Solomon Sebrell Ever felt like you're just going about life with no clear direction from God? We've all been there wondering "Lord, what's next? What am I suppose to do now?" The book of Acts is filled with directions from the Holy Spirit. In Acts 16 Paul was busy about the ministry to which the Lord called him. He arrives in Derbe and Lystra. Then on to Phrygia and Galatia. Next as they were headed to Asia, we find this important phrase "and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost..." (Acts 16:6) In the next verse as Paul and Silas were leaving Mysia again we see "but the Spirit suffered them not" (to go into Bithynia). Lastly in verse 9, Paul has a vision (undoubtedly from God according to verse 10) to go into Macedonia.
Did you see it? As Paul was busy about the Lord's business, the Holy Spirit gave him clear directions. As Philip the evangelist was busy about preaching the gospel, he was given clear direction in Acts 8:29 and then caught away by the Spirit in verse 39. It's when we are busy about the Lord's business and not our own (career, financial, educational, and physical plans) that the Lord speaks and gives us clear direction through his word and his Holy Spirit. Sometimes God allows us a season of rest, or prepares us in a season of waiting while he works. Other times he's waiting for us to do his bidding before he gives us any further directions. Too often we can look for what's next when we're not doing what we know to do now. Ask the Lord do reveal to you what you're not doing that he's already shown you that you ought to be doing. Once you get busy doing that, then he'll guide you into what he wants you to do or where he wants you to go next. Matthew 16:25-26 Matthew 6:33 Acts 8:29, 39 Acts 16:6-10
